Bar Three Woodcraft is a passion project begun by my dad in 2020. He uses ethically sourced exotic hardwoods to create beautiful handcrafted pieces of furniture, game boards, kitchen ware, etc. With growing interest and business propositions for his work, he needed a professional logo for new business cards and his online presence.

The main challenge for this logo was developing something that would encourage people to pronounce the business name correctly. When previously using just the brand "-3" people were often saying "minus three" or "subtract three". If you come from a rural farming community, you might know this refers to a cattle brand (in this case, the one my family used when we had cattle). The name holds history and should be said correctly.

I played with many different arrangements for this logo trying to find the one that was balanced and legible, while creating a clear connection between "bar" and "-". My dad wanted the brand to have a rustic and western feel and I incorporated this into my ideation and typography.
